The basic Braille symbol (or cell) is composed of six dots arranged in two vertical columns, each column being three dots high. This pattern produces 64 one-cell symbols with character index \#(2 $ ^{0} $ _a_ $ _{1} $ + 2 $ ^{1} $ _a_ $ _{2} $ + 2 $ ^{2} $ _a_ $ _{3} $ + 2 $ ^{3} $ _a_ $ _{4} $ + 2 $ ^{4} $ _a_ $ _{5} $ + 2 $ ^{5} $ _a_ $ _{6} $ ), where _a_ $ _{i} $ = 1, if dot _i_ is embossed up and zero otherwise. The positions of these dots are numbered as follows: A cell without numbers A cell with numbers
